"Ancient varieties, saved from oblivion."
- Region
- Le Marche — Fratte Rosa
- Current management
- The Avenanti family and Carlos Ruiz de Villa
Under the motto "Vivi il vino, bevi la vita" ("Live the wine, drink life"), this winery produces all 3 DOCs of the province of Pesaro Urbino: il Bianchello del Metauro, il Colli Pesaresi Sangiovese and l’Aleatico di Pergola. Located in Fratte Rosa, on the border between the provinces of Pesaro Urbino and Ancona, Terracruda grows only indigenous grapes with a special extra mission: bringing old, almost forgotten grapes back to life. They grow, for example, the Garofanata grape (bet you have never heard of it?). That deserves congratulations, not just because it is original and distinctive, but above all because it yields more than excellent wine.
Terracruda is not a family business, but the brilliant idea of three young men who bought 20 ha of vineyards in 2000. Even so, you feel particularly welcome in what you can only call a family atmosphere, amid all the high quality, professionalism and ambition, as shown by the deafening enthusiasm of all the tourists who come here for a wine tasting during their stay in Le Marche. Since the 2020 harvest all wines have been certified organic.
"The word Terra represents and evokes the territory in the best possible way."— Terracruda
